During a trip to Haiti, the Shared Vision team met a teenage boy with an extreme case of myopia (near-sightedness). The team was able to assemble a pair of glasses that closely matched the patient’s correction. One of the child’s eyes was misaligned due to the brain redirecting sight to the stronger eye, so when the glasses were placed on him, his brain and eye muscles could work together to correct the strabismus (abnormal alignment of eye) and he was able to see much more clearly.
